How it works

Welcome to the Maidstone Yoga Centre.

Have you thought about getting to a class but felt it’s just not been the right time? Or perhaps  other commitments take over…..We understand! Which is why we have revisited our timetable to offer 3 different platforms to encourage regular practice and easy access!

We now offer:

  • Livestream – to welcome students particularly from far away.
  • Pre-recorded – learn at your leisure. All videos are valid for 7 days and are updated weekly.
  • In studio classes – book your space and join us!

Get your laptop ready to Livestream your yoga class 💻

Please note we do not send email codes, all access is via our website

  • Ensure your laptop is plugged in, charging, and positioned securely in preparation for your online yoga lesson
  • Go to the Maidstone Iyengar Yoga Centre website
  • Login to your account using your email address and password, which you used when you created your account
  • Go to the Booking Area webpage
  • In the Your Virtual Events segment you should find your class listed. Click the Join Class link (please note, this will only become live 30 minutes before the class starts)
  • The host will then start the class and admit you to the virtual meeting

  •  You can select “Pin Video” to focus the video on the teacher rather than other students

And if you are unable to attend? No problem! 👍

  • Please note that you can cancel your attendance to your class up to one hour before the lesson
  • Go to the Maidstone Iyengar Yoga Centre website
  • Login to your account using your email address and password, which you used when you created your account
  • Go to the Book Classes webpage and click on Cancel Class
  • Your account will be automatically adjusted for you to rebook at a more convenient time

  • Log in and book a class from the timetable as you would normally do
  • Just before class begins, go to the Dashboard section and under “Your Virtual Events” click on ”Watch video”
  • You can do this at the time the class begins, but if you prefer, you can play the video later – The choice is yours!

Please remember

  • You have access to the class for 7 days – you can practice it every day for a week if you want    Other members of the household can join in too…

INTERNET ISSUES (they do happen at times)

  • If your wi-fi becomes unstable, you should turn off your video camera
  • If you miss the start of the class or your internet connection drops, go through the entry procedure as before and the teacher will admit you to the class again.

Attending the studio

So that you become familiar with the new ways of working, please take a look at the guidelines below.

  • All classes for the time being are restricted to 10 places so please remember to book early if you prefer to attend in person. (There will be an option to attend as a livestream student if we are full).
  • Please arrange a simple prop kit. This should consist of a mat, 4 foam pads, a blanket and a belt. We have kits ready to borrow or purchase at the centre
  • Please arrive as early as possible for classes as we will stagger the entrance to 3 people in at any one time, and we will ask students to change and organise themselves in discrete areas and different rooms to comply with social distancing
  • Please use the sanitising wipes provided at the top and bottom of the stairs, and hold the bannister rail with this.
  • On arrival and before leaving, please wash your hands.
  • Please use one of the plastic boxes provided for your personal items and sanitise it before and after use.
  • Please, keep your distance. The studio mats will be laid out at the correct distance; place your own mat on top of ours and don’t move it unless asked by the teacher.
  • If you are ill, or if you are in a vulnerable group, please don’t come into the studio; you can do the class at home via Zoom.
  • We are not expecting students to wear face masks whilst practising yoga, however we would encourage that the teachers and students wear masks in communal areas. If you have forgotten your mask, there are some available for purchase at the reception desk.

There are several carparks nearby – These are some of the best options (below).
  • Sainsbury’s is free for 3 hours (purchasing necessary).
  • Street parking in Kings Street  ME14 1BG – Meter until 6pm and then free.  The bays can be found infront of shop units (mainly estate agents) Galleon House
  • The chequers, accessed via Kings street is £1 after 4pm
  • Mill Street parking – £2 after 6pm

After several lessons with Senior Iyengar Teacher Lin, I feel my own understanding of yoga has improved greatly.

Her depth of yoga knowledge and ability to pass it on is very impressive.

Well taught yoga really can change your life!

I thoroughly recommend trying a class if you haven’t already and feeling the difference.
