Quite challenging but as time goes by you feel the benefits. Lin is a very good tutor explaining why we are doing a particular pose and what the body is doing whilst in the pose.

This yoga is a perfect get fit pack - for mind, body and spirit. I have found it absolutely wonderful - the concentration required to learn the poses is almost a meditation (you forget the world). Your body is stretched and pulled to extreme lengths that make it feel great and this raises your spirit. You go away very calmed and contented!!!

Thank you for the great class yesterday, you take so much time with your students and are obviously watching everyone carefully. You are the first teacher who has commented on my hypermobility and the potential problems by being too flexible and totally spot on with the strength issue. I came away feeling inspired that I might be able to work towards having less joint problems in the future ( I already have painful joints due to a bit of OA).

I have inconsistently tried several different types of yoga over the years, but since joining the Maidstone Yoga Centre and trying Iyengar Yoga for the first time, I am truly converted. Iyengar yoga stretches and challenges me in ways that I have never been challenged and it has made me want to go right back to the very basics and re-learn yoga all over again. The dedicated and exceptionally well trained teachers at the centre are able to make minute adjustments to my postures that make such a huge difference to the way my body responds. They are also excellent at explaining what my anatomy should be doing to get the best possible posture. I love working in the studio at Maidstone, it has a fantastic 'spiritual' energy and is extremely well equipped. I cannot recommend it enough!

I have practised Hatha yoga on and off for about 12 years (more off than on normally!) and have attended about 6 different classes in various places with but have never enjoyed the yoga as much as i am now. I feel very at ease in the class. Lin creates a lovely atmosphere where no-one feels inhibited (in previous classes i have felt pressure to get it right by very serious and somewhat overbearing teachers!). Lin explains things very well and the demonstrations really help to see exactly what i should be doing.

The new Maidstone Iyengar Yoga Centre is perfect it has easy access near the railway station and bus stops. The centre has excellent clean facilities with up to date teaching equipment and very professional and friendly teachers.
I have spent my entire life enjoying walking, running and cycling and have found in more recent years that I have become less agile and easily breathless. I started Iyengar Yoga in January and within a few weeks started to notice a big difference. I now continue to enjoy my outdoor pursuits with ease, I have less aches and stiffness and increased lung function.

This class is amazing! I slipped a disc in my lower back at Christmas and have suffered from sciatica ever since. Even after the months of physiotherapy the sciatica was still here. Since beginning this class 4 weeks ago the pain has finally gone. I'm so happy about this.

I absolutely love this yoga. It is hard work and some poses are challenging but extremely rewarding and by the end of the sessions I feel light and flexible and calm. It's very addictive and I find myself using the principles throughout my day. It has made me very conscious of my posture, especially at work where it is crucial I sit properly to prevent neck pain.

I go into my evening yoga class feeling tired after my working day, however, i always come out feeling rejuvenated. My teacher Lin always works us hard but she has a thorough knowledge of the anatomy and knows what everyone is capable of. I always enjoy my class and find it mentally refreshing as my yoga leaves me no time to worry about anything other than my next position. I would recommend the maidstone yoga centre to anyone, it is a fantastic and clean environment that enables you to enjoy your yoga practice.

After trying all sorts of yoga classes over the years, I went to an Iyengar yoga class run by Lin about 5 years ago. It was exactly what I had been looking for but never found in other schools of yoga taught in the UK! For a start, I have arthritis in my knees and back problems which had caused difficulties for me in other yoga classes. Iyengar yoga (and Lin's training in remedial yoga) has made a huge improvement to my
mobility. Apart from this, I like the emphasis on yoga as a philosophy and a mental as well as a physical discipline which Iyengar yoga provides. And I've made some really good friends!

I limped in to my first yoga class with Lin a week after my 60th birthday. I was very stiff and suffering fairly constant hip and knee pain and so feared that it was all downhill from here. I hoped yoga would help stop the rot, but I never imagined it would make such a difference.
At first I worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up as I was a good deal older than most of the students. However, I soon realized that Lin adapted each pose to the ability of the student. She has an uncanny ability to see when you are struggling and need help - or indeed when to push you if you are not actually realizing your potential.
Now, 6 years on, I am stronger and more supple than I have ever been and the slimmest I have been in over a decade - all while making new friends and having fun!

Very friendly people, its nice to find a studio for yoga, not just a village hall. Well equipped and as i had not been doing yoga for a while, I found that it was very informative and helpful. I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Following 4 operations on my left knee after a serious injury playing football, it was found that my left leg was now shorter than my right leg. As a result, normal walking movement twisted my hips and resulted in constant lower back pain. I had to wear an insert in my left shoe with a 9mm platform to rectify the situation.
Within 6 months of taking up Iyengar Yoga my insert platform was reduced to 3mm. With a continual improvement, it is likely that at some point in the future I will not have to wear an insert at all.

Since joining maidstone yoga centre this year, I have found a new dimension to my yoga practice. Learning precise technical postures and applying this to my home practice has been a real awakening! Taught by a teacher hard to come by, I feel very privilaged. Yoga is a dose of medicine to me. Having had cancer in the past, it has helped me achieve the unthinkable!
